M5 Industries

M5 Industries Inc (M5i) is an American company that creates special effects for films and commercials , as well as prototype toys and robots. The San Francisco- based company was founded by Jamie Hyneman in 1997 and was the location of the television series MythBusters , in which Hyneman appeared with co-host Adam Savage .

Adam Savage is said to have had the idea for the name of the company after neither Jamie nor his employees had thought of one. Above all, the name should be short and reminiscent of the James Bond specialty department . According to Jamie, however , M5i is a misnomer, as the special department of MI6 is referred to in the films as "Department Q" (English: Q branch).

M5i now employs around 50 people who work in the specialist areas of model and mechanical engineering , metal processing , wood processing , painting and robotics . M5i has for more than 100 companies (including Burger King , Intel , Nike , Porsche , Schweppes worked etc.) on commercials and was known film studios (including MGM , Paramount Pictures , 20th Century Fox , Disney , etc.) to productions involved.
