Crvivci ( Macedonian Црвивци , Alban. Cërvica ) is a village in the Opština Kičevo in western North Macedonia . It is about 5 kilometers north of Kičevo .

history

Excavations reveal that there were Illyrian settlements in Crvivci during the time of the Roman Republic , 40 BC . Later the Ottoman Empire came and the residents converted to Islam. After the First World War , a massacre took place in Crvivci , in which 42 men were killed by the Slavic Orthodox immigrants without a judicial decision. In 1991 the new village mosque was built to replace the old one. The Tekke was renovated in 2009.

Crvivci has 1725 registered inhabitants, about 600 of whom live abroad. The inhabitants are 99% Albanians . The colloquial language is Gish Albanian . The inhabitants of Crvivci are 99% Islamic . 75% are Sunni Muslims and 25% are Bektashi Muslims. Most of the residents work in agriculture. Compared to the other village conditions in Macedonia, Crvivci has a distinctive infrastructure.
