Crystal Eyes is a power metal band from Sweden that was founded in 1992 by Mikael Dahl and Niclas Karlsson.
history
Crystal Eyes was founded in 1992 to carry on the legacy of heavy metal in the eighties with bands like Judas Priest , Iron Maiden , Black Sabbath or Accept .
The band released four official demo tapes in the mid-1990s. The official website started in 1996. In the same year, the band also played as the opening act for Blind Guardian .
In 1999 the debut album World of Black and Silver was released on the German label CLM, as was the successor album In Silence They March , which was released in 2000.
The third studio album Vengeance Descending was recorded in the band's studio and released in 2003 under the new Swedish label Heavy Fidelity. The album also features the Chroming Rose singer Gerd Salewski and the Lost Horizon singer Daniel Heiman as guest singers. The good reviews earned the band an appearance at the Sweden Rock Festival 2003.
Daniel Heimann took over the part as the new singer for the fourth album Confessions of the Maker , which was released at the beginning of 2005 via Arise Records , replacing Mikael Dahl, who had taken over the vocal part until then. However, since Daniel Heimann left the band a short time later, they were looking for a new permanent singer. The Dane Nico Adamsen was finally introduced as the new singer. The fifth studio album Dead City Dreaming was released at the end of 2006 with a new singer . The mix was performed here for the first time by Fredrik Nordström in Studio Fredman.
In 2007 the band signed with the German label Metal Heaven, under which the album Chained was released on November 21, 2008. Fredrik Nordström was again responsible for the mix.
style
The songs are not based exclusively on the models of the 1980s metal generation. Guitarist Mikael Dahl cites melodic metal bands like Helloween and Gamma Ray as well as melodic hard rock bands like the Scorpions , Europe , Def Leppard and Bon Jovi as influences.
Most of the songs impress with their cleanly played guitar solos, as well as their very memorable lyrics and melodies. The latest album Chained by the German label Nuclear Blast is included in their winter catalog "Blast!" called "extremely catchy Melodic Metal with rich guitar riffs".
