Melinda Culea (born May 5, 1955 in Western Springs , Illinois ) is an American actress . She has been married to Peter Markle since 1996 .

Career

Culea became known for her role as Amy Amanda Allen ("Triple A") in the television series The A-Team . She previously worked as a model in New York before moving to California to work in the film business. In 1981 she had her first role in the less successful sitcom Dear Teacher . In 1983 she got the role of Amy on the A-Team , but left the series in the middle of the second season. Her next role was in 1984 in the short-lived Aaron Spelling series Glitter .

Culea also made guest appearances, among others in chief physician Dr. Westphall , Family Ties , Fantasy Island , Under the California Sun , Starship Enterprise: The Next Century and The X Files .

The Amy fight

Melinda Culea likely had to leave the A-Team because of an argument over the character of Amy that played out between her and George Peppard and the producers. Melinda Culea was unhappy with the importance of her role. Even in the pilot episode, it seemed like Amy would become a full member of the team. For Culea this was an extraordinary opportunity (for the 1980s), a female hero on the side of some action Roughnecks like George Peppard and Mr. T to play. In the course of the episodes, however , the role of Amy was greatly reduced, was hardly included in the plot and only served as decoration. The producers, however, allegedly complained that Culea was too " tomboyish ".
