action

The Hansens and the Frawleys have long been friends. Chris Hansen is 14 and the beautiful Sally Frawley is his crush. But at a party it becomes clear that she doesn't want anything to do with him. The next morning she is found murdered and battered in the garden. The police suspect Chris, who was found terrified near the body. But he can't remember anything.

After a very tough, eleven-hour interrogation without the presence of his parents, who are too shocked and preoccupied by the events to really notice that he is being interrogated, Chris finally confesses to the fact in the presence of a psychologist who questions him accordingly during a subsequent relaxation method, asking suggestive questions leading to the assumption that he had committed the crime. Chris is arrested and the trial against him is prepared. He should end up before an adult court.

Over time, however, his mother Barbara discovers that the confession contradicts the facts and develops the theory that Chris was forced to testify using hypnosis . She then hires an expensive lawyer and begins to prosecute the police and the public prosecutor's office . It turns out that the interrogation implanted the memory into Chris, since under such circumstances this relaxation method is hypnosis and the leading questions for Chris thus became suggestive answers. It is also made clear that the memory Chris should have of the actual events was irrevocably obliterated by the implanted suggestions at the same time.

The confession is therefore not allowed by the competent judge in his judgment and Chris does not come to court. Since the police arrogantly destroyed the evidence on the scene after the confession, the real killer is never found. The event also destroys the relationship between the Hansens and the Frawleys and later has legal ramifications in the United States , as because of these events the prohibition of confessions under hypnosis was tightened to prevent this from happening again.
