Cumulopuntia galerasensis is a species of plant in the genus Cumulopuntia fromthe cactus family (Cactaceae). The specific epithet galerasensis refers to the occurrence of the species in galeras .

description

Cumulopuntia galerasensis forms small, dense cushions. The ellipsoidal, somewhat humped sections of the shoot are up to 4 centimeters long and have thorns. From the large areoles arise up to twelve orange-brown, strong, needle-like, upright or spreading, straight or curved thorns that are up to 5 centimeters long.

The lemon yellow flowers are up to 5 centimeters long. Your pericarpel is thorny near the edge. The spherical fruits are set along the edge with upright, up to 4 centimeters long thorns.

Distribution and systematics

Cumulopuntia galerasensis is common in the Ayacucho region of Peru .

It was first described in 1981 by Friedrich Ritter . A nomenclature synonym is Opuntia galerasensis (F.Ritter) DRHunt (1997).
