description

Cuscuta pedicellata has thin stems .

The flowers are about 2 to 3 mm in size and usually four-fold. They stand on flower stalks that are as long or slightly longer than the flowers themselves, in umbel-shaped clusters of a few flowers. The calyx is wheel or cup-shaped and only loosely surrounds the corolla tube . The calyx lobes are triangular, pointed or blunt and do not overlap. The crown is initially spherical-bell-shaped, later it wraps the fruit tightly. The pointed corolla lobes are protruding or inclined together and somewhat as long as the corolla tube. The stamens are longer than the anthers . The scales at the base of the corolla tube are trimmed, toothed and about as long as the corolla tube. The ovary is spherical-conical, the styles are very short and flattened. The scars are thin and shorter than the ovary.

The capsule fruit tears open irregularly. The seeds have a length of 1.25 mm.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 10.

Occurrence

The distribution area of the species extends from the eastern Mediterranean to Central Asia and northeastern tropical Africa.
