Live and act
Beall studied biology at the University of Pennsylvania ( Bachelor 1970) and anthropology at Pennsylvania State University ( Master 1972). She earned a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University in 1976. in anthropology. Together with Melvyn Goldstein , Beall examined the influence of life at high altitude on human physiology and on the socio-cultural behavior of people living under these conditions. For this purpose, she examined populations in Tibet , the Andes and the highlands of Abyssinia . She was able to prove that the adaptation of the inhabitants of the Tibetan highlands is different from that of the Andean inhabitants. She made important contributions to quantitative genetics , selection and genomics .
