Dörrenberg (desert)

Dörrenberg was a hamlet in the area of ​​today's municipality Motten (Bavaria) in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen . In 1938 it had to give way to the Wildflecken military training area.

location

The street village was north of Neuglashütten at 550 meters above sea level on the southern slope of the Dammersfeldkuppe . A branch of the road from Kothen to Reussendorf led to the village .

history

Dörrenberg goes back to a farm from the 18th century. Glass remains and shafts suggest glass smelting and the mining of iron ore. From 1777 on, the children went to school in Neuglashütten and later in Altglashütten . The residents first went to church in Kothen, then after the establishment of a local chaplaincy in Altglashütten. With the community edict in the early 19th century, Dörrenberg became part of the community of Kothen .

On April 1, 1938, the village was evacuated because of the construction of the Wildflecken military training area . The 47 inhabitants moved to the Rhön, the Offenbach area , Fulda or Gerolzhofen .
