The Dune Brisket ( Bromus thominei Hardouin ), often called Bromus hordeaceus subsp. Thominei (Hardouin) Maire is a plant species from the species group of soft bristles ( Bromus hordeaceus agg.) within the sweet grass family (Poaceae). The scientific name honors the French botanist Charles Thomine des Mazures (1799-1824).

The characteristics of the Dune Trespe are the same as the Weichen Trespe i. e. S. ( Bromus hordeaceus subsp. Hordeaceus ) very similar. It is an annual , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of up to 15 centimeters. It grows with numerous stalks, often lying in a circle.

The flowering period extends from May to August. The spikelets are three- to six-flowered and measure between 1 and 1.4 centimeters in length. The lemmas are glabrous.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28.

Occurrence

The dune bristle is mainly found on dunes from Western Europe to the Mediterranean and the Azores. It occurs scattered in the dry sandy grasslands of the North and Baltic Sea coasts. Inland deposits are rare.
