Dāvis Bertāns (born November 12, 1992 in Valmiera ) is a Latvian basketball player .
career
Bertāns made his debut in the first Latvian league in 2008, in November 2010 he moved to the top Slovenian club KK Olimpija Ljubljana . In the NBA draft in 2011, the Indiana Pacers secured the rights to the Latvian winger in the second selection round in 42nd place, but they were immediately transferred to the San Antonio Spurs as part of an exchange deal . However, he stayed in Europe for the time being, initially continuing to play in Ljubljana and from January 2012 at Partizan Belgrade . In Ljubljana he also played in the EuroLeague for the first time . At Partizan he was Serbian champion in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and also won the title in the Adriatic Basketball League with the team in 2013 .
In 2014, the Latvian accepted an offer from the Spanish first division club Saski Baskonia Vitoria , for whom he played for two years and scored an average of 10 points per game in 47 games in the ACB league . In Vitoria, too, accuracy in throwing from a distance was one of his strengths; in the course of the 2015/16 season, Bertāns converted 27 of his 57 three-point throws in the EuroLeague, which corresponded to a success rate of 47.4 percent.
In the summer of 2016, Bertāns made the move to the United States and was signed by the NBA team San Antonio Spurs. After an average he had 8 points per game scored for the Texans in the main round of the season 2018/19 and the best value was recorded since arriving in San Antonio, he was in the summer 2019 as part of a swap to the Washington Wizards issued . In Washington he scored 15.4 points per encounter in the 2019/20 season and hit a strong 42.4 percent of his three-point throws.
