Since it was founded, Dětí Země has been committed to protecting the ozone layer , sustainable transport and air pollution control. One of the most important projects of Děti Země in recent years was the struggle for an ecologically more compatible route of the D8 motorway (Prague – Dresden) in the Bohemian Central Uplands protected landscape area . In this context, the organization also became known in Germany.

The current chairman of Dětí Země is Miroslav Patrik . Members of the honorary council of the organization are Jiří Dědeček , Erazim Kohák , Vladimír Merta , Zdeněk Thoma , Jaroslav Pavlíček and Jan Vodňanský . Ivan Dejmal , former dissident of the Charter 77 civil rights movement and first Czech environment minister, was a long-time supporter.

Děti Země annually awards the "Green Pearl", an ironic prize for the worst utterance on the subject of ecology.
