Dương Văn Thái (born April 18, 1992 ) is a Vietnamese middle-distance runner .

Athletic career

Dương Văn Thái gained his first international experience in 2010 when he finished seventh in the 800 meter run in 1: 54.91 min at the Junior Asian Championships in Hanoi , as well as in 4: 07.42 min over 1500 meters. The following year he won the Southeast Asian Games in Palembang in 1: 49.42 min over 800 meters and was fourth in the 1500-meter run in 3: 53.32 min. In 2013 he took part in the Asian Championships in Pune over 800 meters , but was eliminated there with 1: 55.02 min in the first round. He then won the Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw in 3: 58.02 minutes over 1500 meters and won the bronze medal over 800 meters in 1: 51.62 minutes behind the Malaysian Muhammed Jironi Riduan and Mervin Guarte from the Philippines. At the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon , he failed over 800 meters with 1: 50.66 minutes in the lead and reached eighth place over 1500 meters in 3: 50.50 minutes.

In 2015 he won the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in 1: 51.27 minutes over 800 meters, and in 3: 52.75 minutes over 1500 meters. Two years later he also won the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1: 48.97 min and 3: 55.67 min over both distances. In 2018 he again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta , but failed there over 800 meters with 1: 49.79 min and over 1500 meters with 3: 54.50 min. In 2019 he won the Southeast Asian Games in Capas again over both distances in 1: 49.91 min and 4: 06.63 min.

In 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 Dương was Vietnamese champion in the 800-meter run and in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 also over 1500 meters.
