The D4 Business Village Luzern (formerly D4 Business Center ) is a business location in the Längenbold area of the municipality of Root with over 100 companies and a total of around 2,000 jobs. The first stage was inaugurated in 2003. The D4 has a usable area of ​​53,000 square meters and offers rental space for sole proprietorships, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and internationally active companies. In addition, the companies are offered various services in the business area.

The Suva officiated as developer for the site. The first stage with 22,500 square meters of office space was inaugurated in 2003, and since then the Technopark Lucerne in D4, which is to serve as a start-up for young companies, has also been rented. In 2001, the Längenbold train station on the Zug – Lucerne railway line was inaugurated on the site and was renamed Root D4 with the 2004 timetable change in the course of the launch of the Lucerne S-Bahn and the Zug urban railway . The Fischer architects from Zurich were responsible for the buildings .

In 2011, a further expansion of the business location in the form of a six-storey building was announced, which should have a final function at the head end of the quarter.

In addition to the offices, various leisure facilities such as the Pilatus Indoor climbing hall , a fitness center and a massage and physio studio are quartered in D4. Numerous retail stores and discounters can be found in the neighboring buildings in Längenbold and Oberfeld.

Transport links

The Root D4 district is directly connected to the Swiss railway network with the S-Bahn stop of the same name. The S1 line of the Zug urban railway from Baar via Zug to Lucerne stop every half hour. In addition, the district is accessed by line 23 of the Lucerne transport company and line 28 of Auto AG Schwyz . The two bus lines provide connections to the city of Lucerne and Küssnacht am Rigi , Weggis and Vitznau .
