The DATEs is a monthly, ad-supported city magazine for Magdeburg and the surrounding area, sometimes with another, separately sold regional edition of Erfurt , Weimar and Jena .
DATEs is published by DATEs Medien Verlag GmbH and is largely distributed free of charge in discos , trendy shops, restaurants, pubs, cinemas, bookstores and public institutions. In addition to an extensive calendar of events for concerts, theater, cinema, parties , etc., it contains an editorial section that reports on regional events from the areas of stage, music, venues and the regional scene as well as current films and CD releases. The edition also contains satirical rubrics, for example "Owl" and "Zum Schlachthof" (named after the publishing house in the former slaughterhouse).
There are also regular special issues on topics such as fashion, automobiles or Christmas, as well as the student magazine “Studieren in Magdeburg”, which appears every winter semester.
