The DJK TuS Hordel is a sports club from the Bochum district of Hordel . The association was established in March 1911 as a gymnastics department in the Catholic youth association Herz-Jesu.
history
The official founding took place on October 22, 1911. After the founding of the Deutsche Jugendkraft , the club joined the sports association and from then on called itself DJK Turn- und Sportsfreunde 1911 . In the course of the ban on Catholic sports clubs by the National Socialists, the DJK TuS Hordel was also prohibited from continuing. After the end of the war, former members brought the association back to life in 1947.
It began in 1959 with friendly games against other DJK clubs. In 1960 a football department was established. At the beginning of 1968, the DJK-Ringgemeinschaft was no longer able to guarantee its own gaming operations, so that the extraordinary general assembly that was convened decided to join the Westphalian Football and Athletics Association.
In May 1987 the first football team was promoted to the district league. In a real 'final' against Teutonia Riemke , the team achieved promotion. In 1992 he was promoted to the state league, and in 1994 to the Westphalia Association. The second team made it to the district league A in the same year.
In the 1994/95 season, a change of coach triggered a crisis with the resignation of the executive board. In 1995/96, the 1st team became champions of the Association League Westphalia and rose to the amateur league, where they played for a total of five years.
In 2007 you had to digest a step backwards when you were relegated from the Association League; a new beginning in sport began. In 2010, thanks to the new youth concept, they celebrated their first major success: in a final on the last match day of the Landesliga West they managed to get promoted back to the new Westphalia League and even won the district cup with a 2-0 win over SG Wattenscheid 09 .
The A, B and C youth teams now play nationwide in the high Westphalian classes.
