DJ disk
Luis Quintanilla (born October 7, 1970 ), better known as DJ Disk , is a DJ from San Francisco with Central and South American roots. Quintanilla began scratching to his mother's Spanish records at a young age, following friend (and former student) DJ QBert to a chapter of the Rock Steady Crew in 1992 . A little later they renamed themselves Invisibl Skratch Piklz . Over the years the group has included DJs D-Styles, Mix Master Mike , DJ Flare, A-Trak and Yogafrog.
As a founding member of Piklz , Disk was an influential turntablism DJ and invented the 2 Click Orbit and the 2 Click Flare Lazer Orbit .
In addition to his hip hop work with Piklz and the projects El Stew , Cobra Strike , Ben Wa , Giant Robot 2 and Praxis , Disk also worked in various constellations with bassist and producer Bill Laswell , drummer Bryan Mantia , experimental guitarist Buckethead , Tabla -Player Zakir Hussain , the singers Mike Patton ( Peeping Tom ) and Serj Tankian and the jazz musicians Herbie Hancock and Jack DeJohnette .
For a time he worked as a teacher at the Turntablist Academy .
