DJ Krush

DJ Krush (* 1962 in Tokyo as Hideaki Ishii ) is a Japanese hip-hop - DJ and music producer .

Live and act

After graduating from high school, Ishii worked for the yakuza . Inspired by the movie Wild Style , he decided to become a DJ. Two hip-hop artist friends from the USA gave him and his brother, who supported him at the time, the name Crash and Bang . Later the word Crash changed to Krush . This word gave its name to the Krush Posse, which he founded in 1987 with DJs like DJ Muro . The group performed live more often in late 1992, earning him the reputation of being the first Japanese DJ to perform with live musicians.

In 1994 his debut album was released . Soon he had a record deal with the British label Mo 'Wax by James Lavelle and was able to celebrate success outside of Japan. In 1997 he moved to Sony Music .

During his career, he worked with western hip-hop artists such as CL Smooth , The Roots , Guru , Mos Def , DJ Cam , DJ Shadow , Zap Mama , Sly and Robbie , Company Flow and N'Dea Davenport . On the album Ki-Oku he is with the Japanese jazz - trumpeter Toshinori Kondo heard.

In 2015, after a break of more than ten years, a studio album by Krush - Butterfly Effect was released . It was released by the German record label VinylDigital. At the recordings was u. a. the Lebanese singer Yasmine Hamdan involved.

Ishii does not speak English and therefore hires interpreters on a regular basis .
