action

It is the year 2055. It has been eight years since the Turkish space crew set off into space. The goal: to find the spaceship pilot Gökmen ( Turkish : astronaut), who was sent to his supposed death by unknown forces during a spacewalk that was historic for the Turks.

Only one person is firmly convinced that Gökmen is still alive: the son of the man who saved the world - Captain Kartal (Mehmet Ali Erbil). He has made it his business to find Gökmen and is ready to give his life for it. With the help of the Turkish occupation, which consists almost exclusively of amateurs and all of them are homesick. But Zaldabar, son of Uga, wants to prevent this.

He is not only aiming for the beautiful Princess Maya, but also for Gökken's head. Gökmen, on the other hand, did not die a martyr, but ultimately had to flee from the court of King Dogibus IV because of his commitment to human rights and has been in hiding ever since - also firmly convinced that Captain Kartal will never give him up and save him.

When a lucky coincidence brings Princess Maya and Captain Kartal together, it turns out that the twin brother of Captain Kartal is the second son of the man who saved the world, who lives in the same solar system as them.

Reviews

The film is at number 9 on the IMDb list of the 100 worst films of all time (as of April 2015). The German reviews were different:

“In 1981 the Turkish director Çetin Inanç shot his disrespectful and trashy sciifi spectacle 'The Man Who Saved the World' (Dünyayi kurtaran adam), which subsequently enjoyed great success in Turkish cinema. 25 years later the actor and director Kartal Tibet shot this sequel, in which old star Cüneyt Arkin can also be seen, with many allusions to the original. But despite or maybe even because of the modern technology, this sequel only partially achieves the wit of the original. "

“A shrewd genre parody, which at the same time self-ironically mocks everyday life and megalomania in Turkey. The 'Fantasy-Trash', calculated with a star cast and professionally produced, entertains with accurate punchlines that don't lose any of their impact in the German subtitles. "
