DLR Band is the fifth music album by David Lee Roth . It was released on the label "Wawazat !! Records", which Roth founded especially for the publication .

History of origin

DLR Band was recorded and mixed at Ocean Entertainment Studios in Burbank and Mama Joe's Studios in North Hollywood ( California ) in just ten days - a way of working that Roth has not done since the Van Halen album Van Halen II (1979) had applied. John Lowery (also known as John 5) and Mike Hartman played guitar on the album, Hartman also took over the bass under the pseudonym "B'ourbon Bob".

The album received positive reviews after its release, especially when compared to Roth's previous two releases ( A Little Ain't Enough from 1991 and Your Filthy Little Mouth from 1994). Nevertheless, the album was not commercially successful because of the poor distribution opportunities of Roth 'small label and only little advertising. In addition, Roth initially seemed to have no interest in presenting the album live on a tour; when he did in 1999, the band often played in smaller venues and with unrelated dates.

John Lowery and Mike Hartman were both not part of the touring group, so Roth once again had to look for a replacement guitarist to accompany him. He chose Bart Walsh, a guitarist who had played in the Van Halen cover band "The Atomic Punks" until shortly before joining Roth .

The DLR band titles "Indeedido" and "King of the Hill" later appeared on Mike Hartman's solo album Black Glue under the titles "Southern Romp" and "Stomp"
