A Little Ain't Enough is the third studio album by David Lee Roth .

History of origin

After Roth with the self- produced album Skyscraper could not achieve the same success as his debut album Eat 'Em and Smile , he gave up production again in the hands of an outsider and dedicated Bob Rock , who has already successfully with Motley Crue ( Dr. Feelgood ) worked had to take care of the recordings.

Steve Vai had gone to Whitesnake after the Skyscraper tour , and Billy Sheehan had dropped out to start Mr. Big , so Roth had to find new musicians as well. He decided to separate the lead and rhythm parts instead of having a single guitarist and hired Jason Becker and Steve Hunter as guitarists for the band. Billy Sheehan's successor was Matt Bissonette , brother of Roth drummer Gregg Bissonette . Brett Tuggle , who had already played the Skyscraper keyboard , was now permanently accepted.

The recordings took place in Bruce Fairbairn's Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver ( British Columbia , Canada ); Sound engineers for the album were Randy Staub , Chris Taylor and Brian Dobbs. In addition to the band's musicians, a wind group also took part. In contrast to Roth's first album, A Little Ain't Enough did not contain a cover version .

This time, outside musicians were also involved in the songwriting for the album, including Robbie Nevil and former Dio guitarist Craig Goldy .

After being diagnosed with ALS, Jason Becker could no longer take part in the tour for the album and left the group.

On MTV USA, the single A Lil 'Ain't Enough was relatively successful for a short time, as the video clip , which showed scantily clad women and strangely dressed short people , caused a sensation and was controversial. It was therefore removed from the station's program very quickly.
