Bruce Fairbairn
Bruce Earl Fairbairn (born December 30, 1949 in Vancouver , British Columbia , † May 17, 1999 in Vancouver, British Columbia) was a Canadian music producer in the 1980s and 1990s. He has produced many albums by well-known rock musicians, including Kiss , Bon Jovi , Aerosmith , AC / DC , Van Halen and Scorpions . He was the owner and operator of Little Mountain Sound Studios in his hometown of Vancouver.
Life
Early career
As a child, Fairbairn learned to play the trumpet. At the age of 30 he won three Canadian Juno Producer of the Year awards for working with his band Prism on the 1980 album Young and Restless . With Lover Boys eponymous debut album began his career with hits like Turn Me Loose and The Kid Is Hot Tonite . His work with Blue Öyster Cult and Krokus made him one of the most famous hard rock producers.
International success
In 1986, Fairbairn Bon Jovis produced slippery When Wet , with over twelve million copies sold in the US alone. His next major production, Aerosmith's Permanent Vacation (1987), generated a number of hits including Dude (Looks Like a Lady) , Angel and Rag Doll . Fairbairn also produced Aerosmiths Pump , which had sales of more than $ 7 million.
death
After completing the recording sessions for the Yes album The Ladder , Fairbairn was found dead in his Vancouver apartment by Jon Anderson on May 17, 1999 . He left behind his wife Julie, with whom he had three sons.
In 2000 he was posthumously honored with induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame .
