DMG Mori KK ( Japanese DMG 森 精 機 株式会社 , DMG Mori Seiki Kabushiki kaisha , German "DMG-Mori Precision Machines", English DMG MORI Co., Ltd. ) (formerly Mori Seiki , DMG Mori Seiki ) is a Japanese company that manufactures machine tools.
The company, founded in 1948, has its headquarters in Nagoya , three production sites in Japan ( turning and milling machines are manufactured in Iga in Mie Prefecture , Yamatokōriyama in Nara Prefecture and Funabashi in Chiba Prefecture ) and one in Switzerland ( Le Locle , produces horizontal jig boring mills). The 100% subsidiary KK Taiyō Kōki in Nagaoka manufactures grinding machines.
DMG Mori is listed on the Tokyo and Osaka stock exchanges, with 86% of the shares being in free float . The company is headed by Masahiko Mori. It employs around 3800 people (2008) and achieved sales of EUR 1.25 billion in the 2007 financial year. The DMG-Mori Group, which operates worldwide, includes around 30 subsidiaries and six affiliated companies. There are 39 sales and customer service locations in Japan and another 55 worldwide. A software development center is maintained in West Sacramento , California, the Digital Technology Laboratory (DTL). In 2007, the Swiss Dixi Holding Le Locle sold its subsidiary Dixi Machines SA, which specializes in the manufacture of ultra-high-precision jig boring machines, to DMG Mori Seiki. Since spring 2009 there has been a cooperation and cross-shareholding of 5% with the German company Gildemeister , which also operated under the DMG brand and now operates as DMG Mori AG .
The company's main products are CNC -controlled lathes and milling machines, vertical and horizontal machining centers and multi-axis milling centers. DMG Mori can refer to more than 200 standard models of CNC-controlled lathes and milling centers as well as around 160,000 units already installed. The head office of DMG Mori Germany is in Wernau (Neckar) .
As of October 1, 2013, the company of KK Mori Seiki Seisakujo ( 株式会社 森 精 機 製作 所 , Kabushiki-gaisha Mori Seiki Seisakujo , German “Precision Machine Operation Mori”, English Mori Seiki Co., Ltd. ) renamed itself to DMG Mori Seiki KK On January 22, 2015, the company made a takeover offer to the German DMG Mori AG . DMG Mori KK now holds 50.81 percent of DMG Mori AG.
