DSB MDF

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The diesel-electric railcars of the Danish series DSB MDF were built in 1932 by the Danish locomotive factory Triangel in Odense for various private railways .

They were only included in this series of Danske Statsbaner (DSB) after the nationalization of the train operations of the respective owner companies and used freely by them. However, some of them did not become the property of DSB, but remained with the respective company.

SFJ M 6, 7, 9

The SFJ M 6-10 railcars were procured by Sydfyenske Jernbaneselskab (SFJ) for operation on their Danish private railway lines. In 1936, the vehicles procured as SFJ M 6-10 were renumbered SFJ MD 6-10 .

With the takeover of Sydfyenske Jernbaner on April 1, 1949 by Danske Statsbaner (DSB), their vehicles were transferred to the state railways. The railcars were given the series designation MDF . The vehicles MD 6, 7, 9 and 10 were taken over . MD 6, 7 and 9 were given the company numbers MDF 491 , MDF 492 and MDF 494 and continued to be used in passenger transport.

MD 10 , which went to DSB without an engine, was used as a CQMP 3500 railcar trailer .

MDF 491

The railcar was in use from Odense Syd until 1954 and was then parked. The decommissioning and scrapping took place in 1957.

MDF 492

The railcar was in use from Odense Syd until 1952 and was sold to Odense – Kerteminde – Martofte Jernbane in the same year . There he received the number OKMJ MD 13 .

MDF 494

The vehicle, which was also taken over without an engine, was only used briefly as a railcar trailer and sold in 1950 to Nordvestfyenske Jernbane for their Odense – Middelfart – Bogense (OMB) route. It was given the number OMB MD 5 .

ONFJ M / DSB MDF 495

The ONFJ M railcar was procured from Odense-Nørre Broby-Fåborg Jernbane (ONFJ - Brobybanen) for operation on the Danish private railway line Odense-Nørre Broby-Fåborg , which opened in 1906 .

The construction of the Odense – Nørre Broby – Fåborg line was carried out by Sydfyenske Jernbaner (SFJ) , who leased it after completion. She took over the management, so the vehicles of the Brobybane were maintained and used by the SFJ.

With the takeover of Sydfyenske Jernbaner on April 1, 1949 by Danske Statsbaner (DSB), the ONFJ vehicles were transferred to the state railways for use. However, the railcar remained in the possession of the ONFJ and did not become the property of the state railways. He received the series designation MDF and the road number 495.

He was based in Odense Syd from 1951 to 1953. After that, he was kept in the Aarhus central workshop for two years until 1955 and was retired in 1957.

SNB M / MDF 496

The railcar SNB MD 11 was procured by A / S Svendborg – Nyborg Jernbaneselskab (SNB) for operation on the Danish private railway line Svendborg – Nyborg , which opened in 1897 .

Since the Svendborg – Nyborg railway line was leased to Sydfyenske Jernbaner (SFJ) in 1902, the company's vehicles have been maintained and used by the SFJ.

With the takeover of Sydfyenske Jernbaner on April 1, 1949 by Danske Statsbaner (DSB), the SNB vehicles were transferred to the state railways for use. However, the railcar remained in the possession of the SNB and did not become the property of the state railways. It received the series designation MDF and the road number 496.

The railcar was sold in 1957 to Odense – Kerteminde – Martofte Jernbane (Kertemindebanen), which owned two other vehicles of the same type. It was no longer used there and was used as a spare parts dispenser.

SFB M / MDF 497

The SFB M was procured by A / S Faaborg – Svendborg Jernbaneselskab (SFB) for operation on the Danish private railway line Svendborg – Faaborg , which opened in 1916 .

After the construction of the Svendborg – Faaborg line, operational management was immediately handed over to Sydfyenske Jernbaner (SFJ) , so the company's vehicles were maintained and used by the SFJ.

With the takeover of Sydfyenske Jernbaner on April 1, 1949 by Danske Statsbaner (DSB), the SFB vehicles were transferred to the state railways for use. However, the railcar remained in the possession of the SFB and did not become the property of the state railways. It received the series designation MDF and the road number 497.

It was based in Odense Syd from 1951 to 1952 and was sold to Odense – Kerteminde – Martofte Jernbane (Kertemindebanen) in 1952 , which owned two other vehicles of the same type.

At Kertemindebanen the railcar was classified as OKMJ MD 12 . There he received an eight-cylinder diesel engine from MAN . It stayed on the track until it was retired in 1966. The undercarriage of the wagons was sold in 1968 to Vemb – Lemvig – Thyborøn Jernbane (VLTJ) for spare parts .
