The German Ultralight Flight Association e. V. ( Munich District Court , Association Register No. 10635), DULV for short , was founded in 1982 with the primary goal of legalizing UL flying in Germany . It now has around 5500 members from all branches of UL aviation and is in accordance with Section 2 of the Ordinance on Commissioning Air Sports Associations (BeauftrV) of December 16, 1993 ( Federal Law Gazette I p. 2111), last amended by the Ordinance of 1. October 2001 (Federal Law Gazette I p. 2638), entrusted with the performance of the following public tasks in connection with the use of the airspace by aerial sports equipment :

  1. Issuing of type and traffic approval for microlight aircraft ,
  2. Issuance of permits and authorizations for the aviation personnel of these aerial sports equipment ,
  3. Issuing permits for the training of these aviation personnel,
  4. Supervision of the operation of air sports equipment on airfields and grounds, if both are used exclusively for the operation of air sports equipment and unless another representative is responsible for supervision,
  5. Collection of costs according to the cost regulation of the aviation administration in the currently valid version,
  6. performing the tasks in accordance with numbers 2 to 5 for one or two-seater aerial sports equipment with an engine that is not permanently connected to the aircraft and with a maximum permitted empty weight of 120 kilograms including harness and rescue equipment .

As a practically equal association, according to § 1 of the BeauftrV, the “ Deutsche Aero Club e. V. “(DAeC) entrusted with the same tasks.

The DULV also carries out the sample test for one or two-seater air sports equipment with a maximum permitted empty weight of 120 kilograms including harness and rescue equipment .
