Daba Modibo Keïta (born April 5, 1981 in Abidjan , Ivory Coast ) is a Malian Taekwondoin . He starts in the heavyweight division.

Keïta grew up in Ivory Coast, but in 2000 had to flee with his family to Mali, his parents' homeland. It was there that he and his two brothers started Taekwondo for the first time. In 2005 he was accepted into a support program of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), which enabled him to train professionally in France and the USA . Keïta played his first international title fights at the 2005 World Cup in Madrid , but was eliminated in his opening fight. Two years later he was able to advance to the top international. He won the gold medal at the 2007 World Championships in Beijing in the weight category over 84 kilograms with a superior final victory. In Manchester he was also able to reach the final in the over 80 kilogram class at the Olympic qualification tournament and thus take part in the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he reached the quarter-finals, but was eliminated by Chika Chukwumerije and finished eighth. In 2009 Keïta repeated winning the gold medal in the heavyweight division at the World Championships in Copenhagen .

In the following years Keïta did not take part in any further title fights, but played the African Olympic qualification tournament in Cairo at the beginning of 2012 , where he initially missed direct qualification for the Olympic Games in London after a loss to Anthony Obame , but a wild card for his from the WTF received second participation. In London he reached the battle for the bronze medal, but could no longer contest it due to injury.
