history

The Dade City Woman's Club was born against the backdrop of the American women's movement of the 1920s and the Florida rural boom . Since 1911, the activities of the club, which first met in an extension of the Dade City Hotel and later in its own club house, have been an important part of community life. With the growth of the real estate bubble , the club was able to sell the now second club house, which had become too small for 150 members, with a profit of 13,000 US dollars and acquire a property on the corner of Meridian Avenue and 10th Street . When a resident of Dade City made them an attractive offer for this property in order to build an apartment block there themselves, and at the same time Irving M. Austin, who was planning the new Congress Park district in Dade City, asked the club to move their club house there and to collect a bonus for it, they built their clubhouse in Congress Park in 1926 . The foundation stone was laid on January 26, 1926 with a marble stone from Georgia . The Dade City Woman's Club is still in use.

On October 13, 2003, the Dade City Woman's Club was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a monument .
