Dagmar Engel

Dagmar Engel (born April 26, 1960 ) is a German journalist. Since January 1, 2012, she has been editor-in-chief of the newly created Global Multimedia Directorate of Deutsche Welle .

Life

Engel studied German, political science and journalism. After starting her career at a small film production company in Essen , she initially worked for WDR and RIAS TV . In 1992, RIAS TV became the German international television network of Deutsche Welle ( DW-TV ), where Engel initially worked as a news editor and later rose to become deputy program manager in the area of ​​current affairs and news. From 1997 to 1998 she went to the USA , where she reported as a TV correspondent from DW's Washington studio . She then took over the management of the News and Daily Topics division as well as the position of deputy editor-in-chief. From 2002 she was editor-in-chief of DW-TV.

Dagmar Engel is married to the journalist and publisher Andreas Rostek. She lives and works in Berlin .

Volunteering

Engel has been a member of the television jury for the Axel Springer Prize for young journalists since 2010 and is also on the advisory board of the Civis Media Foundation .

She is a board member of the ProQuote Medien e. V. , who has been coordinating the journalistic equality initiative Pro Quote since June 2012 .
