Civis Media Foundation
The CIVIS Medienstiftung GmbH is a company based in Cologne . This was founded in 1987 by the Federal Government Commissioner for Foreigners Issues, together with ARD (represented by WDR ) and the Freudenberg Foundation . The shareholders are WDR, representing ARD, and the Freudenberg Foundation.
As a media network for migration, integration and cultural diversity in Europe, the CIVIS Medienstiftung actively supports the formation of media opinions on all relevant socio-political issues of the European immigration society. The CIVIS Media Prize annually honors European program achievements on the subject of film, television, radio and the Internet. With international media and program conferences, CIVIS offers an important European forum for debate. The independent, non-partisan and non-profit foundation is active nationally and internationally from Cologne.
Since 1988 the company has been organizing and running the CIVIS - Europe's Media Prize for Integration. The CIVIS Media Prize for Integration and Cultural Diversity in Europe is announced annually by the CIVIS Media Foundation for the Association of State Broadcasting Companies in Germany (ARD), represented by Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), together with the Freudenberg Foundation in the European Union and Switzerland.
The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation , SRG SSR , Deutsche Welle , RTV Slovenija , Deutschlandradio , the Franco-German cultural channel ARTE , 3sat , Phoenix and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) are media partners.
The Federal Government Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration , the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights , the WDR mediagroup , the collecting society for film and television producers and the Alliance of German Producers - Film & Television are cooperation partners.
The European Parliament is the patron . Journalist Ferdos Forudastan is the company's managing director . The Chairman of the Board of Trustees is the director of West German Broadcasting, Tom Buhrow . The members of the CIVIS Board of Trustees should represent the organization's concerns in a publicly effective manner. The chairman of the CIVIS program advisory board is Jona Teichmann , editor-in-chief of radio at Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). The program advisory board has advisory tasks.
