Daisetta is a city in Liberty County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located in the east of the county, in southeast Texas, in the east about 70 km from Louisiana , in the southeast about 65 km from the Gulf of Mexico and has a total area of 3.8 km² without any significant water surface.
history
Shopkeeper Newt Farris founded the town in 1917 and named it after Daisy Barrett and Etta White .
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 1,034 people in 369 households and 290 families lived here. The population density was 269.7 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 95.55% White, 2.32% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 1.16% other ethnic groups. About 0.97% were mixed race and 2.13% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 369 households, 39.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 61.8% of these were married couples living together. 13.6% were single mothers and 21.4% were non-families. 19.5% of all households were single households and there were people living in 11.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.80 and the average family size was 3.23.
29.9% of the population were under 18 years old, 8.5% 18 to 24, 29.4% 25 to 44, 19.7% 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 98.1 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 92.3 men.
