Daingerfield is the county capital and seat of the county seat of Morris County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is centrally located in the county, almost in the extreme northeast of Texas, is in the north about 50 km from Oklahoma and Arkansas , in the southeast about 60 km from Louisiana and has a total area of 6.3 km² without any significant water surface.
history
In 1740, the first Europeans camped near a spring where the city is today. In 1830 Captain London Daingerfield, after whom the city was named, and around 100 men had a skirmish with Indians at this source, in which he fell. In the following years the area was settled and the first post office was set up in 1846. In 1877 Daingerfield became the county seat.

According to the 2000 census, 2,517 people in 957 households and 694 families lived here. The population density was 403.2 people per km². The racial the population was composed of 67.46% White, 26.14% African American, 0.56% Native American, 0.40% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 3.81% other ethnic groups. About 1.63% were mixed race and 5.32% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 957 households, 36.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 49.5% of these were married couples living together. 19.3% were single mothers and 27.4% were non-families. 25.1% of all households were single households and there were people living in 11.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.02.
29.0% of the population were under 18 years old, 8.2% 18 to 24, 25.5% 25 to 44, 20.1% 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females of all age groups there were 84.0 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 79.2 men.
The median income for a household in the 28,333 USD , and the median income for a family 31,625 USD. Males had a median income of $ 31,154 versus $ 19,196 for females. The per capita income was $ 13,689. 23.5% of the population and 20.8% of families are below the poverty line. 35.1% of these were children and adolescents under 18 years of age and 11.1% were 65 or older.
