Cut and Shoot is a city in Montgomery County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is about 65 km north of Houston and 10 km east of Conroe in the east of the county in southeast Texas and has a total area of 7.0 km 2 with no significant water surface.
history
Allegedly the place was named after 1912 after a confrontation within the community about a new bell for the only church. Population statistics were first reported in the mid-1970s when there were 50 residents.
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 1,158 people lived here in 389 households and 324 families. The population density was 164.4 people per km 2 . The racial the population was composed of 92.92% White, 0.52% African American, 1.47% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents, and 3.63% non-residents ethnic groups. About 1.38% were of mixed race and 6.39% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 389 households, 37.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 72.5% of them were married couples living together. 9.3% were single mothers and 16.5% were non-families. 13.4% of all households were single households and 5.4% had people who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.98 and the average family size was 3.24.
29.1% of the population were under 18 years old, 7.6% 18 to 24, 29.3% 25 to 44, 23.1% 45 to 64, and 10.9% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 100.3 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 97.4 men.
The median income for a household in the 40,455 USD , and the median income for a family 47,404 USD. Males had a median income of $ 36,719 versus $ 20,833 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,482. 8.9% of the population and 5.7% of families are below the poverty line. 7.5% of these were children and adolescents under 18 years of age and 15.5% were 65 or older.
