Location in East Timor

Dakolo ( Dacolo ) was a historical territory in Timor .

location

Dakolo had its center in the north of today's East Timorese Sucos Nanu ( Fatumean administrative office , Cova Lima municipality ). At times the Suco was called Nano Dakolo .

history

The three kingdoms Fatumean, Lookeu and Dakolo originally formed the Uma Tolu ( "Three Houses" ) coalition . Only after a war against the Portuguese did the kingdoms of Sisi and Maudemi join in and Koba Lima was created . A " Koba " is a basket that is used for ritual acts and "lima", the word for "five". By corruption, "Koba" later became "Cova" and the name of today's municipality Cova Lima. Because of the colonial demarcation, with the Treaty of Lisbon between the Netherlands and Portugal, Sisi, Maudemi and half of Lookeus came to what is now Indonesian West Timor , while the rest of Lookeu, Fatumean and Dakolo remained Portuguese. Ties across the border still exist today.
