Dalian 4250 , also Jiangsu 4250, is a type of container ship produced by the Chinese shipbuilding company Dalian Shipbuilding .

history

The Dalian 4250 design was carried out at Dalian Shipbuilding in Dalian . The ships were built at the Group's own Dalian Shipyard (Dalian Shipbuilding Ind - No. 1) and Dalian New Shipyard (Dalian Shipbuilding Ind - No. 2) in Dalian and at Jiangsu New Yangzijiang Shipyard in Jingjiang . The ship type was very successful in its market segment. Larger series of the type were each commissioned by China Shipping Container Lines , Rickmers Reederei and Pacific International Lines , while other shipping companies ordered smaller series. From the Dalian 4250 type, the shipyard developed the Dalian 4300 type with a slightly higher storage capacity. With the completion of the expansion of the Panama Canal, interest in ships of this size subsided. As a result, in November 2016 and January 2017, India Rickmers and Hammonia Grenada , two ships in succession, were reported as the youngest fully operational container ships ever sold for demolition.

The Dalian 4250 units are full container ships with superstructures about four fifths aft above the machinery . Seven of with cell guides provided cargo spaces are located outside the deckhouse and beyond. The hatches are closed with pontoon hatch covers. The container storage capacity is a maximum of 4250 TEU, with even loading with 14-ton containers the value is 2816 TEU. Depending on the construction, 400 to 700 integral refrigerated containers can be supplied on board the ships. The ships do not have their own loading gear .

The drive system consists of a two - stroke diesel engine of the types MAN B&W 8K90MC-C and 9K90MC-C, each with an output of around 36,500 kilowatts . The engine acts directly on a fixed propeller and helps the ships to reach a speed of 24 knots .
