Dalsheimer Bürgel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dalsheimer Bürgel is an 84 hectare vineyard and one of the most renowned individual locations in the twin community of Flörsheim-Dalsheim in Wonnegau, Rhineland-Palatinate. Wines from this location can be marketed as "Großes Gewächs", provided that other quality criteria are met.

Location, climate, soil

The Bürgel vineyard extends in a protected south-facing position, west of the patch wall in the Dalsheim district. It is part of the large Burg Rodenstein site in the Rheinhessen wine-growing region and is bordered to the north by the single site "Steig" and south by the single site "Goldberg".

The location is 150 to 260  m above sea level. NHN , the angle of inclination is 20% to 35% and has an exposure from southeast to south. The soil consists of limestone brown loam ( Terra fusca ) in the upper layer, as it only occurs on old land surfaces far from active erosion. The thick, tough, ocher colored clay prevents waterlogging due to its permeability.

In addition to Riesling, the classic white and red Burgundy varieties are preferred in the Bürgel. The top product of the Sekthaus Raumland from the "Bürgel" is a cuvée made from Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay.
