The Damen Combi Freighter 3850 is a series cargo ship type of the Damen Shipyards Group in Gorinchem . The construction is being carried out by the Damen Shipyards Bergum shipyard in Bergum ; some of the hulls are supplied by other shipyards.

The coasters of the Combi Freighter 3850 type are designed as multi-purpose dry cargo ships with a deckhouse far aft and a long hold without their own cargo gear . The type has a fixed deckhouse and a mostly box-shaped cargo hold with a volume of 5250 m 3 , in which two movable bulkheads can be used. The continuous hatch is closed by pontoon hatch covers, which can be opened and moved individually by a hatch car. The cargo area is 62.52 meters long and 10.10 meters wide. The tank cover , which can be loaded with up to 15 t / m², is reinforced for cargo handling and the transport of heavy goods . A total of 176 20-foot containers ( TEU ) can be transported, 108 TEU in the hold and a further 68 TEU on the hatch covers. Some ships of the type have a container capacity increased to up to 193 TEU.
The ships of the series are powered by a MaK four-stroke diesel engine of the type 8M20C with an output of 1520 kW, which acts on a variable-pitch propeller and a shaft generator with 330 KVA output via a reduction gear . An auxiliary diesel with an output of 175 kW each and an emergency diesel with an output of 77 kW are also available. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
The ice-reinforced hulls were assembled in a sectional construction. The ships have a slightly sloping stern without a bulbous bow .
The units of the Combi Freighter 3850 series are mainly used in small and medium-sized journeys in the transport of containers . But they are also suitable for the transport of bulk goods, piece goods and smaller project loads.
