Damir Dantes (* 1972 in Bosnia , Yugoslavia ) is an Italian pantomime and dancer .

Life

At the age of 8, the young dancer first appeared on stage in the Bijeljina City Theater. This was followed by almost 10 years of training in dance (jazz, ballet, folklore, and breakdance) - efforts that were rewarded with 1st place as a soloist at the national breakdance championship.

He began a university course with a major in sport, which he finished in 1992 in order not to get involved in a war, which he rejected for pacifist reasons. He left his homeland and went to Paris.

From 1992 to 2004 he completed a pantomime training with Marcel Marceau , the Theater du Mouvement , Yass Hakosim, Peter Makal and took part in various productions as a leading actor at the international pantomime theater Makal City Theater in Stuttgart in the performances of Der Zauberlehrling , Der Karneval of animals , in the magic of the lotus blossom , Scheherezade from 1001 nights . In addition, permanent participation in various productions at the Heidelberg Theater Workshop: An Eye for an Eye - Violence Prevention , Der Berg , Café olé , Time to Live , The Cold Heart by Wilhelm Hauff , and finally, work on addiction and addiction prevention. In addition, he trained as a theater pedagogue and graduated from the Federal Association for Theater Education .

However, Damir Dantes did not gain recognition as an artist until the beginning of the new 21st century when he performed his own choreographies , which retained classical elements of pantomime, but gave music and dance a far greater role than was generally customary in pantomime. In addition, he increasingly processed abstract themes in pantomime, such as the Passion of Christ , premiered in Cologne Cathedral, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka or spiritual motifs such as B. in The Planets and Reincarnation .

Damir Dantes continues the tradition of lightness in movement by Étienne Decroux and Marceau, adorns it with elements from classical and modern dance and influences both contemporary pantomimes and comedy pantomimes in the way they are interpreted. He lectures regularly in his pantomime studio in Zurich and at the University of Heidelberg and as a guest speaker at theaters, schools and kindergartens, mainly in Switzerland.
