The steam all around in Flensburg is Europe's largest steamship meeting (according to PS ).

Since 1993 the company Volldampf e. K. in odd years the Dampf Rundum, which replaced the Holm-Nixen-Fest am Holm in Flensburg , founded in 1987 . The Harbor Festival offers tours on historic steamers as an attraction. The highlight of the event is the steamboat race for the blue brewer's band .

In the courtyard of the Flensburg Maritime Museum , steam engines from the Flensburg Model Club , the Tarp Model Railway Club and the Nord Modellbaugruppe are on display . A cultural program with a Ferris wheel and fireworks complete the major event, which was attended by around 350,000 guests in 2009 alone. The Flensburg musicians' table - a network founded in 2011 to promote regional bands - organizes stage performances.

Participating ships

The local saloon steamer Alexandra acts as the host ship among the historic steamers calling at Flensburg harbor . The following steamboats, steamships and other ships have been guests so far :

Steam boats - mostly small harbor and pilot boats that called for steam all around the Flensburg harbor - were called Heihoo , Horus , Iris , Mathilda , Pauline and Thor .

Historic steam locomotives until 2013

The steam locomotive 012 100-4 (standard express train locomotive DRG class 01.10 ) commutes on the routes of the Flensburg port railway (2007). This element of the festival is now history due to local politics.

Until 2013, as part of the steam tour, a historic steam locomotive commuted on Germany's oldest still preserved railway line, the former Flensburg port railway . Every two years it was the only time that trains ran on the otherwise unused route.

The switch at the junction to the east bank has been expanded since September 2015. The port railway, which was shut down in 2014, has not been used since then, although the track on the western bank can still be used.

The festival was considerably reduced in size. A steam-driven special trip planned in 2017 at least to Flensburg main station was canceled at short notice because the train was not given a transit permit due to the G20 summit in Hamburg .

The SPD and CDU want to make a fast bike route possible on the embankment, although a bicycle path runs right next to the embankment.

Occasionally, other steam engines, such as steam rollers, are also demonstrated.
