Dan Cogan

Dan Cogan (* 20th century ) is an American film producer for documentaries who has been nominated nine times for an Emmy .

Career

Cogan received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University and attended Columbia University's Graduate School of the Arts . Cogan has been in the film business since 1997 when he was responsible for the feature film Number One Fan . In the short film Torte Bluma from 2005 with Stellan Skarsgård in the lead role, he was employed in the same job. He then worked as a supervising producer on the productions Freeheld and The Garden . As an executive producer he was also responsible for How to Survive a Plague by David France , The Queen of Versailles , Dreamcatcher by Kim Longinotto and Chuck Norris and Communism . Cogan received a Primetime Emmy Award in 2014 for the documentary The Crash Reel , which was shown as the opening film at the Sundance Film Festival .

For his participation in the film Ikarus , he and Bryan Fogel received an Oscar at the 2018 Academy Awards in the category “ Best Documentary ”. The film was also nominated for a BAFTA Film Award at the British Academy Film Awards 2018 .

Dan Cogan is married to documentary filmmaker Liz Garbus , who received an Oscar nomination for her film The Farm: Angola, USA , among others .
