Dan Hugo (born Daniel Godfrey Hugo on July 1, 1985 in Worcester ) is a former triathlete from South Africa .

Career

Dan Hugo attended Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch .

Vice-World Champion Xterra Cross-Triathlon 2011

He was active in cross triathlon and was able to win the Xterra South Africa four times (2008, 2010, 2011, 2014). In October 2011, Dan Hugo became vice world champion in cross triathlon in Hawaii - second behind the Austrian Michael Weiss , who was banned for two years just a month later because of doping.

After sustaining serious injuries in a wheel fall in the summer of 2012, he has competed in the Xterra racing series again since 2013 .
In 2015, shortly after his 30th birthday, he declared his professional career over.

Today he works as a trainer and looks after the triathlete Bradley Weiss , who won the Xterra World Championship in October 2017, and the four-time Xterra World Champion Flora Duffy (2014-2017).
