Vintage Faith Church
With a group of like-minded people, he founded the Vintage Faith Church in Santa Cruz in 2004 , which was previously part of the Santa Cruz Bible Church , where he served as a youth pastor for eight years. The vision was to be an adoring, missionary and theological community . Kimball has dealt intensively with the prevailing postmodern youth culture because he himself belonged to a rockabilly - punk band that was not adapted and did not fit into any Christian subculture . Creative and artistic elements and an authentic atmosphere are important components of the Vintage Faith Church , they show up in the church services , in other meetings, in the coffee house, in the art gallery and in the music concerts that are held in The Abbey , as the church building is called, during the be carried out all week. In 2013 he started a series of sermons "Taking the Vintage Voyage" (German: Take part in the Weinberg-Kirchen-Reise ) to explain and deepen his holistic approach.
Teaching
Kimball teaches part-time at the Western Seminary in San Jose, and he is also a professor of missionary leadership at George Fox University in Portland. He is also a visiting professor of evangelism and leadership at Wheaton College near Chicago. He opposes an externally determined Christian evangelical subculture in the USA and worldwide, which has internally distanced itself from Jesus , the Bible and the attractive community of early Christianity . Celebrating (celebrating), connecting (connecting) and coaching (promoting) characterize true Christian community today. He has developed methods and new elements of how church parishes, worship services, sermons, evangelism and leadership can be in order to be relevant and missionary in a post-modern, post-Christian culture.
