Dan Peck (* the thirtieth March 1983 ) is an American jazz - tuba player and composer .

Live and act

Peck came to New York in 2005 and studied orchestral music at the Mason Gross School of Arts at Rutgers University and the Manhattan School of Music , with whose orchestra the first recordings were made in 2009 under the direction of Dave Liebman ( Miles Ahead ). He played solo tuba concerts with works by Robert Sirota , Craig Woodward and Ignacio Baca-Lobra ; he also worked with composers such as James Levine , Herbert Blomstedt , Anthony Braxton and Neely Bruce . In 2007 he performed with the traditional jazz band Grandpa Musselman and His Syncopators at the Jazz at Aspen Festival . He played with musicians like Steve Swell and Roswell Rudd in Charlie Keil & the New York Path to Peace ; he also worked with Tony Malaby , Harris Eisenstadt ( Recent Developments , 2017) and Nate Wooley ( (Sit In) The Throne of Friendship ( Clean Feed , 2013)). In the field of jazz he was involved in five recording sessions between 2009 and 2011. In 2008 Peck founded the trio The Gate with Tom Blancarte (double bass) and Brian Osborne (percussion) , with whom he has released two albums so far (2013). He is also a member of the Anthony Braxton ZIM Sextet.
