Dangona

Dangona (also: Dangana , Dan Gona ) is a village in the municipality of Illéla in Niger .

The village is located about 30 kilometers southwest of the city center of Illéla, the capital of the Illéla department of the same name in the Tahoua region . Larger villages in the area are the approximately nine kilometers east location Dandadji and about 14 kilometers to the south Dafawa . Dangona lies on the southern edge of the Ader landscape .

Dangona was one of the hardest hit places in the Niger food crisis in 2005 . The population had less than one meal a day; roots, wild berries and leaves were eaten.

At the 2012 census, Dangona had 5116 inhabitants who lived in 844 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 3,984 in 623 households, and at the 1988 census, the population was 2,303 in 379 households.
