Daniel Albinus (* 1627 in Satrup ; † probably on February 27, 1691 ibid) was a German theologian.

Live and act

Daniel Albinus was a son of the pastor and Magister Melchior Witte (1591-1658) and his wife Margaretha, née Preuss. The father, whose last name was Latinized Albinus , originally came from Eckernförde .

From June 1645 Albinus studied Protestant theology at the University of Rostock and in 1649 at the University of Jena , where he completed his studies with a master's degree. He then worked for some time as an educator at the ducal court in Gottorf Castle . In 1659 he took over the pastor's position in Satrup from his father. The community was largely impoverished due to the Thirty Years' War and the so-called Polish War . During his time as pastor, many farms in the area became dependent on Johann Adolph Kielmann von Kielmannsegg , who owned the Satrupholm estate .

On September 4, 1661 Albinus married Anna Stammer. The couple had ten children, five of whom died in childhood. A son named Johann Adolph later took over his father's pastoral position and died in Satrup in 1707.

Unlike his father, Albinus had a quiet tenure as pastor. Therefore he could work scientifically. Contemporary witnesses described him as a “vir doctus” (learned man). When orthodox circles accused the general superintendent Johannes Reinboth of having practiced syncretism , Albinus published a work left by the theologian Johann Meier. The work, published in 1661, was titled “Vindiciae posthumae pro orthodoxia D. Johannis Reinboths contra Diss. Apolog. D. Andreae Kühns ”.

Daniel Albinus probably died on February 27, 1691. His funeral speech was given by the Kappeln pastor Johann Christoph Andreae. It was entitled "The white dress of honor" and was published in Schleswig in 1691.
