background

Satrupholm was built as a knight's castle in the 12th century . The name Satrupholm is apparently composed of the place name Satrup and the word Holm , which means island. There are several watercourses around Satrupholm and the land around it consisted of wetlands, especially in the past (cf. Stone Age settlement chamber in Satrupholmer Moor ). In addition, the moat still preserved today strengthened this island-like location. Around 1450 the aristocratic court Satrupholm came into the possession of the Schleswig bishops . In 1528 at the latest, the Hinrich von Ahlefeld estate belonged to the estate . One of his successors also with the name Hinrich von Ahlefeld was 1593-1599 bailiff of Flensburg . He enlarged the property to include the farm and several farmer's cottages in Obdrup . Numerous grit, some of which were far away, also belonged to the estate. Two important complexes formed the bailiwicks of Langstedt in the west and Karlswraa with possessions mainly in the municipality of Bülderup . Hinrich von Ahlefeld was the founder and builder of Gut Dollrott in 1609 , further east of Satrupholm. After his death, Gut Satrupholm fell to Duke Friedrich III in 1631 . from Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf . In 1664 Johann Adolph Kielmann von Kielmannsegg acquired the estate. After he died in a Danish prison in 1676, the estate returned to Duke Christian Albrecht . In 1720, however, the Gottorfer lost their shares to the Danish king in the Peace of Frederiksborg . Satrupholm became a Danish state domain and was administered from Copenhagen . In 1770/71, King Christian VII had the estate parceled out and the land sold to independent farmers, creating the present-day town.

Administratively, the newly created Satrupholmer parcels belonged to the Satrupharde , which in turn belonged to the Gottorf office . The Vogtei Langstedt, however, came to Mohrkirch harde , while the Vogtei Karlswraa was dissolved. With the dissolution of the municipality of Satrup , the small town of Satrupholm became a part of the municipality of Mittelangeln on March 1, 2013 . Today the place basically consists of two courtyards, one to the west of the Satrupholm dirt road, where the moat is located, and one to the east, which is owned by the Sternipark eV mother and child facility. Satrupholm has only four house numbers today, Satrupholm 1–4. Satrupholms postcode is 24984, its area code is 04633.

Tell of the spirit of the evil lord of Zago

The legend of the banned castle ghost was recorded in the middle of the 19th century by Karl Müllenhoff as follows: “The Lord of Zago on Satrupholm was no less cruel to his servants and members of the estate than his wife, the wicked wife of Zago. Immediately after his death there was rumbling and rumbling in the castle; his unhappy spirit raged around, beat and tormented the sleepers and finally penetrated the woman's bedroom. A preacher from Adelbye near Flensburg , who was particularly famous at the time and who had already succeeded in banishing ghosts several times, was summoned. He confidently promised to calm things down here too. Around twelve o'clock he went into the room with the Bible under his arm, where the ghost always appeared first. When the clock struck, a resounding laugh was heard and the ghost entered. The preacher opened the Bible and read aloud the passages that had otherwise been successful. But the spirit came up to him and knocked the book out of his hand and the clergyman could be happy to get away with his skin intact. The ghost in the castle was then twice as bad; they were about to leave the castle completely when help came just in time. One evening a theology student who had been evicted from the university arrived at the inn in Satrup and asked for night quarters. After a long refusal, the landlord granted him. The other guests soon talked about the ghost and one of them told everything exactly; the student had listened attentively and he immediately offered to banish the ghost. He was taken to the same room where the preacher had paid his visit. Soon the ghost came. The student first gave him a long sermon and presented him with all of his atrocities. The Spirit replied that whoever poses as a preacher must first be pure himself; he, the student, had once bought rolls from the bakery, but left without paying. The student immediately reached into his pocket and tossed the owed shillings to the ghost; then he had to be silent. Now the student held out the holy book and asked him to knock it out of his hand; but the spirit could not and had to declare itself overcome; He had only one request left to take his place under the drawbridge. But the request was not heard; the ghost would certainly not have left the passers-by in peace, and a large hollow beech tree north of the castle was chosen as a place of exile. The coachman was already ready to drive the ghost and ghost banner there when he first ordered him to pull off the rear wheel and throw it into the car. At full gallop we went to the hollow tree and the unhappy spirit had to carry the axle until then; then the student quickly urged him into it. Since then there has been silence in the castle. Many years later, a new owner wanted to have the dangerous tree felled, regardless of all odds. But the servants soon came back and reported that none of their axes were against the rock-hard tree. Then the blacksmith in Ausacker offered, who knew something about the art of sharpening axes. It was now possible to fell the tree; but no sooner did he fall than an immense flock of eagle owls and owls came and filled the air with terrible howls for a long time. "
