history

The place name Torsballig is associated with Thor, the god of thunder . Torsballig was first mentioned in 1467 as Torslaff . In the course of the territorial reform of the 1970s, the municipality of Torsballig lost its independence and came to the municipality of Havetoftloit . When it was dissolved on March 1, 2013, Torsballig came to the newly formed community of Mittelangeln.

A legend reports that in the past a large number of burial mounds could be seen on the fields of Havetoft , Havetoftloit and Taarballig, which reminded of a great battle that was once fought there. - To the east of the old village center of Torsballig there are three megalithic tombs that are under monument protection . The largest of them is called Hermannshoi . - The legend tells about the Hermannshoi that the “first King Frode” would rest there (therefore Frotho I could be meant).
