Rehbergholz
Rehbergholz ( Danish : Rebbjerg Skov ) denotes both a forest area and a district of the municipality of Mittelangeln in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein .
geography
The settlement and the adjacent forest are located in the middle of the district, south of Satrup , on the fishing peninsula . The city of Flensburg is 15 km north .
The approximately 194 hectare forest is characterized by a mixed forest with beech , oak , ash , maple and alder . The north-eastern part is also known as Süderholz ( Sønderskov ), the south-western part, separated from the main part by the national road L 22, as Schwennholz ( Svendholt ). The Schwenningen wood alone approximately covers an area of 33 ha. Northwest of the forest area is the Hecht Moor ( Hegemose ). The Rehbergholz today forms the largest closed contiguous forest area in the fishing region , which existed more than 200 years ago and is entered as such on the map of the Danish cartographer Johann Heinrich Christian du Plat of the Duchy of Schleswig from 1805. The oldest oaks are from 1820, some beeches from 1850, including the royal beeches as a natural monument. Hawk, fallow deer, roe deer and badger inhabit the forest. The watershed between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea runs through the wood. In the Danish period the forest was assigned as Svendholt-Rebbjergskov to the first Gottorf forest rider district ( skovriderdistrikt ). The Rehbergholz together with the Schwennholz is now designated as an FFH area Rehbergholz and Schwennholz as a NATURA 2000 protected area.
history
The name derives from Danish. rev for an elongated mountain. In 1837 two cottages belonging to the Satrupharde were mentioned in Rehbergholz.
In the eastern part, south of the fork in the road to Treholz, there is the wall-like elevation of the remains of the large stone grave Pinnesgrab , a long bed from the early Stone Age, whose grave chambers surrounded by large boulders have now been destroyed. The cap stones are also missing.
Until 1970 the place belonged to the community Rehberg , which was incorporated into Satrup. With the dissolution of Satrup and its incorporation into Mittelangeln, Rehbergholz became an independent district of Mittelangeln.
Personalities
The Danish lawyer and politician Henning Matzen (1840–1910) was born in Rehbergholz.
