Daniel Baumgartner

Daniel Baumgartner (born December 2, 1961 in Frauenfeld , authorized to reside in Aadorf ) is a Swiss professional officer ( corps commander ).

Life

Baumgartner did an apprenticeship as a miller and later worked as a plant manager. In 1988 he joined the corps of career officers and held positions in various schools, including commanding the logistics officers' school in Bern. Most recently he was chief of army planning and deputy chief of the army staff. From October 1, 2010 to June 30, 2015, he was chief of the army's logistics base . Since July 1, 2015, he has been in the position of assigned senior staff officer / further development of army training . At the Federal Council meeting on March 4, 2016, he was appointed Army Commander on April 1, 2016, succeeding Dominique Andrey . In January 2017, Baumgartner took over the training command in the further development of the army while being promoted to corps commander .

On April 10, 2019, the Federal Council appointed Baumgartner as Defense Attaché in Washington with effect from January 1, 2020 .
