Daniel Christian Manuel Boemle (born November 7, 1960 in Bern , † February 21, 2007 in Les Ponts-de-Martel ), also Dänu Boemle , "Sleepy Dan" or "Öml" , was a well-known presenter of the Swiss from 1988 to 1994 Radio station DRS 3 . He also worked as a singer, author, DJ , cultural mediator and painter.

Life

Boemle's drawing flair was evident early on. At the age of 22 he moved into his first studio in an old farmhouse near Bern. During this time Boemle had a kind of teacher, his neighbor, the ascetic church window artist Werner Schwarz .

Boemle allegedly applied for the position of moderator at DRS 3 in 1988 when he was “completely burned down”. In the eighties and nineties Boemle was one of the formative radio presenters and is - alongside Reeto von Gunten and François Mürner - one of the most famous radio legends of the state broadcaster DRS 3 . His artistic activity took a back seat during this time. Boemle quit in 1994 with the aim of being a painter again.

Boemle was also a resident DJ in various clubs around Basel, where - according to his own statements - his taste for funk and jazz was valued. He was also active as a singer and (artistic) photographer.

Boemle suffered from AIDS for many years and finally decided to pass out with the help of an euthanasia organization.

Since 2003 he has lived in Les Ponts-de-Martel in the Neuchâtel Jura , where he is also buried.
