Daniel Caccia (born December 1, 1986 in Osijek , SR Croatia , Yugoslavia as Danijel Čačija ) is a Croatian jazz musician and singer who has also performed as Daniel Čačija .

Career

Caccia is the grandson of Zvonko Čačija, a musician known in Yugoslavia who worked as an instrumentalist, singer and composer and who had success with his composition “Na malenom brijegu”. At the age of five, Caccia's family left their homeland in the course of the Croatian War and settled in Offenbach. All family members enjoyed a musical education; Caccia had been taking piano lessons since he was eight and had attended the Conservatory in Frankfurt am Main since 1998. He gained his first musical experience as a singer in church, where he sang in an a cappella formation, which played in the tradition of the barbershop .

After graduating from school in 2006, he began studying jazz singing at the Mainz University of Music and studied with Alexander Gelhausen. In 2009 Caccia moved to the University of Art in Graz and continued his studies with Dena DeRose , Sheila Jordan and Mark Murphy . Between 2011 and 2013 he was a member of the Federal Jazz Orchestra , with which he gave concerts and tours in Europe; he can also be heard on his double album 25 . The HGM Jazzorkestar Zagreb brought him as a guest soloist for his album HGM Plays the Music of Ivo Robić , which was released in 2014 on the Croatian Aquarius label. He released his debut album under his own name, Lifeline , on Mons Records in 2015 . From then on he undertook intensive concert tours with his quintet, completed his master’s degree in 2016 and subsequently became a soloist in the New Orleans formation “Streetview Dixieclub”.

In 2017, Uwe Granitza, formerly the musical director of Roger Cicero , and the lyricist and producer Frank Ramond contacted Caccia. After test recordings, Caccia's album “Alles ist New York” was released with the GatsbyPopOrchester (former RogerCiceroBigBand) in November 2018.
